Any person who endured the silver band braces of years ago is familiar with the embarrassment that came from being called names. Remember being called "chrome mouth"? You would rather keep your mouth shut than have to smile in front of anyone. Richmond dentist Fotolia_4950930_XS.jpg

Well you will be pleased to know that the world of dentistry has come a long way since the yesteryear days of metal braces. Today you can get braces that are invisible sold under the moniker of Invisalign invisible braces.

One reason for the huge popularity of the Invisalign or Richmond invisible braces is the fact that nobody can tell you're wearing them. You can smile as wide as you want and no one is any the wiser that you are wearing braces. If kids have to wear braces, these are the kind they want. Adults love them too since they feel more "grown up" than metal braces.

You should know, though, that Invisaligns do have some limitations. A dentist can't use them for a big job. They actually achieve a small amount of teeth adjustment forward or back. But they are ideal for people in their 40s or so who have had major orthodontal work but the teeth have relapsed back to where they were.

Invisalign or Richmond invisible braces are also used by many dentists when they need to pull a tooth and the space has not been filled with a crown. The teeth around the open area will begin to shift. Thus, when you want to have a crown put in, your teeth have shifted so that the implant, a basic necessity if you're getting a crown, can't be put in cuz there's no room. If you find yourself in this situation, your Richmond dentist will most likely use Richmond invisible braces to amend the problem so you can get your implant and crown. And Invisalign or Richmond invisible braces can just be used on a couple of teeth. For instance, if you have a problem with just your front teeth, you can get Invisalign braces that will fit and fix only those teeth. When the dentist has addressed that problem, the veneers or crown you want can be carried out.

You'll only have to wait one year to see your goal with Invisalign. Getting the work done with traditional braces means it will take two years to get the job done.

Well, that's about all there is to know. Invisalign or Richmond invisible braces can't be used for every person or every situation. But they are so versatile, they probably could help you in one form or another.
