It is quite normal to feel some discomfort immediately after a dental crown placement. It might be that the treated tooth is simply getting used to life without much of its enamel. Richmond dentist Fotolia_3843301_XS.jpg

In giving you a new dental crown, I am forced to get rid of a lot of enamel. In fact, it may feel as if none of the enamel is left. The nerves in your tooth will be extra sensitive to friction, pressure and temperature changes. This is the reason you feel that sharp tingling feeling as soon as you get your new dental crown. This shouldn't last longer than two days, though.

Maybe the size of the crown is all wrong in terms of height. It means the lab technical crew probably got it wrong in adhering to my instructions. To amend the problem, I could file away the upper areas of the dental crown, or order another crown from the technician.

It may also be that everything about the crown, shape-wise, is wrong. This means that the inner, hollow part of the dental crown is too deep or too shallow. In addition, the circumference and width may not be right for the base of the tooth root that we created for you.

It won't be much of a problem fixing this with a metal-based crown. If your crown is made of gold or both gold and porcelain, we can do a fast fix-it job. Because gold can be very easily reshaped, we are able to correct the problem without hassle. If we were to use porcelain dental crowns, it may be a totally different state of affairs when the technicians in the lab undertake the necessary changes.

At any rate, the most important thing is making you happy. Our main aim is that you are happy with the final product. The last thing we want is to have you go away and not being completely happy with the job we've done. Not only that, we want you to look nice as well. Remember, this is your show, you are making all the final decisions. All we do is provide the skills and tools to assist you in reaching your targets.
